Terms of Use
All users of the NS-Lists system
agree to the following
Terms of Use.
A user is anyone who sends or receives messages via the system
or who manages or accesses the system for the subscribing organization (school, district, etc).
These Terms apply to the NS-Lists system,
including the associated mailing lists,
and may be amended by the NS-Lists Service Provider at any time as necessary.
1. Message Recipients (you have registered your email address with the system to receive messages)
- You must have a valid association with the school (such as staff, student, parent, guardian, etc.)
- You agree to provide only truthful and accurate registration information
- If you feel a received message is inappropriate for the list do not mark it as spam, please contact the school or ns-lists instead
2. Message Senders (for those authorized to send messages)
- All NS-Lists are for School-related communication only
- No commercial email (school-related fundraisers, activities, services, etc. may be ok, at the discretion of the school)
- "Public" messages only (the system is not to be used for confidential, personnel, or personal messages)
- The various lists are intended to target the distribution of messages; they are not a security device
- Anti-spam, anti-virus, access controls, and other security features are intended to protect the lists from misuse and abuse; but they are not a guarantee
- All messages may be monitored, stored, or archived by ns-lists for digests, web access, security, diagnostics, statistics and other service, support and management purposes
- Message delivery is on a best-effort basis, messages may occasionally be delayed, non-deliverable, or end up in a spam or junk folder, for many different reasons
- Email addresses experiencing delivery problems may be removed from the system at any time without notice
Usage Recommendations and Guidelines
- Plain-text messages are the lowest common denominator and are readable by the largest number of message recipients; they are the suggested format
- Use attachments only when necessary; whenever possible include relevant information in the main message body (even when using an attachment)
- Do not "resend" a message simply because you think that it "didn't do through". It can take many minutes, sometimes even a few hours for a message to be sent to all recipients and for you to receive your copy.
- Avoid follow-up messages; all messages should include all relevant information on the first attempt. Before clicking "Send" please check that your messages answers "the 5 W's": who, what, when, where, why/how.
3. Service Subscribers (schools, districts, etc., and their associated individuals)
- Misuse may result in message rejection or suspension of mailing list(s) access or activity until the problem is resolved
- All data collected/provided by ns-lists (email addresses, names, etc) are for school-related use only
- Do not use the ns-lists administrative interface to provide information to others outside of immediate school use
- You understand and accept that even with anti-spam, anti-virus, access controls, and other security features abuse or misuse of the lists may happen and that ns-lists can not be held culpable
- You agree to provide ns-lists with the information necessary to create and manage the associated database (in mutually agreed upon format); this includes (but may not be limited to) basic school information, student names, ID numbers, class lists, staff names and email addresses, etc.
- You agree to provide a primary contact for ns-lists who will also, typically, be the school's ns-lists administrator
4. NS-Lists Service Provider
- We will treat all confidential/personal information accordingly and will not release it to any outside groups or organizations
- We reserve the right to limit access and usage as necessary to best protect the lists and system from misuse or abuse
- We reserve the right to use the service subscriber's name in the promotion of ns-lists
